Giving family carers the break they need and deserve
Respite Care at Home with Your Care Solutions
Caring for a loved one is one of the most loving things you can do – but it can also be physically and emotionally demanding. There are approximately 6.5 million unpaid carers in the UK, many of whom provide intensive care with little or no regular support. At Your Care Solutions, our Respite Care service gives family carers the opportunity to rest and recharge, safe in the knowledge that their loved one is receiving professional, compassionate care while they take a well-earned break.

The vital role of the family carer
Family carers provide an enormous amount of care that would otherwise fall to statutory services. But without regular rest and respite, carer burnout is a serious and common problem. Burnout affects not just the carer's health, but inevitably the quality of care they are able to provide. Taking regular breaks is not a luxury – it is essential for sustainable, high-quality caring.Over 6.5 million unpaid carers in the UK1 in 8 workers is also a carerCarer burnout significantly impacts both carer and recipient wellbeing

What respite care involves
Our Respite Care service steps in to provide professional care while the family carer takes a break – whether for a few hours, a day, a weekend, or a longer holiday. Our care workers follow the established care routines as closely as possible, providing continuity and minimising disruption for the person being cared for. We take thorough handover notes so that everything continues smoothly.

Ensuring continuity and comfort for your loved one
A key concern for family carers taking a break is whether their loved one will be properly cared for by someone unfamiliar. We address this by arranging an introduction visit before the respite period begins, giving the client time to get to know their care worker before the family carer leaves. Wherever possible, we also use the same care workers for repeat respite arrangements.

Short breaks and longer cover
Respite care can range from a few hours while a carer attends an appointment to several weeks of cover while a carer takes a holiday or recovers from illness. We are flexible and responsive, and can often arrange cover at relatively short notice when circumstances demand it. We also encourage families to plan regular, routine respite rather than only seeking it in a crisis.

Specialist respite for complex needs
We are experienced in providing respite care for people with complex and specialist needs, including dementia, Parkinson's disease, acquired brain injury, and end-of-life care. Our care workers have the training and experience to provide high-quality care for people whose needs go beyond basic personal care and companionship, giving specialist carers the confidence to take a break.

Supporting carer wellbeing in the long term
The best respite care is planned as a regular part of the caring arrangement rather than a last resort in a crisis. We work with families to build respite into their care plans proactively, ensuring that family carers have consistent, reliable opportunities to rest. A well-supported carer is a better carer – and regular respite benefits not just the carer but the person they care for.
